Once payment is received, all new members will be contacted to confirm their membership. You will also be asked to attend an introductory tour of the club grounds, when access keys to the grounds will also be handed to you. Just a wee Deoch an Doris, just a wee drop, that's all. 

Just a wee Deoch an' Doris afore ye gang awa'......

Yes, it's that time of year, the annual nod to all that is Scottish, the Burns' Supper.  Och awa ya timerous beastie.  

Fear ye not, this is our Sasunnach chance to pay tribute to the Scottish bard Robbie Burns whilst enjoying good fayre, good wine and, above all, good company.  Apparently his love was like a red, red rose or was it nose, I am never sure.

So, let's gather and enjoy this ancient annual Scottish custom, you know it makes sense.

Jayne has done a glossy advert with all the details, i forgot to ask her to mail it to me so I could post it here so here goes with the salient points.

Burns' Supper Night

At the Red School Millbay Road

Starts at 7.00pm Friday 22nd. January 2016

as with the summertime soup au pistou 

bring your own wine/beer, glass, plate and knife, fork and spoon.

Full traditional menu inc. haggis and crannachan.

Also included is genuine Scotch whisky.

All for a mere £10 per person.

Can't promise anything but we may get chance to have a wee Gay Gordon [or is that happy Gordon these days]  or something similar if the caller turns up.

A Christmas Party to start your Christmastide.

Yes, it is here!  If you are among the lucky ones to have obtained a ticket see you at 7.00pm at St Pauls, all new, rooms.  The new lavatories have to be seen to be believed.

Remember to bring whatever tipple you prefer.  We have a some gluhwein and a selection of party nibbles along with a few interesting things to do.

It's that time again.  For fun and games along with a spot of Christmas cheer come and join in the tennis club's party.  

Starts at 7.00pm. on Saturday 19th. December 2015 at St. Paul's church room.  Not far to walk home afterwards.

The Last [Garden] Post.

Sadly the weather was set against us for the last group gardening Saturday of 2015.  Below is a very positive message from our Gardening guru, Andrew.  To add a little context this is the last of a series of emails between various members of the committee who were agonising over whether or not to cancel.

The weather won although, ironically, this afternoon would have been terrific. Ho hum, such is the life of we children of the land.  

Andrew said,

" Hi all sadly I feel I must agree with you.

 I am hoping to escape this afternoon and do the hollow tyning as I have arranged with Ross for the machine (£40!)

Yes let's send out a message to the members saying that the gardening morning is cancelled and that we would like to thank everybody for their support this year which has made such a difference and of course to all those who helped with the lawn mowing. And that we look forward to even more support from the membership next year and look forward to seeing as many as possible on the first Saturday in February - 2016!! "

So, there we have it no more pleasant Saturday mornings pretending to know what we are doing until February 2016.  It sounds a long way off but it is not. Meanwhile watch out for the various social events already in the pipeline being planned for your delectation even as I type.  Be there or miss out, you know it makes sense.

Welcome Maggie..

A Message from our Chairman

At their meeting on  Monday October 18, the committee voted unanimously to co-opt MAGGIE CHEAL on to the committee with immediate effect. Maggie – a new arrival in Stonehouse – comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in fund-raising matters  and will, we feel sure, prove invaluable as we move the club forward in the years ahead. Welcome, Maggie !
